On January 1 2019, the Fortuneo-Samsic sponsorship alliance in Brittany will take on a new name: next season, the team will be sporting the name and colours of Arkéa-Samsic!

As of January 1 2019, Arkéa will take over from its online banking affiliate Fortuneo to appear alongside Samsic as the main sponsor of Brittany’s Continental Pro cycling team.

This banking and insurance company is already highly involved in the world of sports, supporting the professional football clubs of Rennes, Guingamp, Brest and Lorient, as well as the Bordeaux-Bègle Rugby Union club. The company is also planning to support skipper Sébastien Simon during the next Vendée Globe sailing race.

Arkea is a credit union cooperative operating in the banking and insurance sector. The Group is made up of a number of different structures, including the Crédit Mutuel network covering Brittany, the South West and the Massif Central. Arkéa is also the parent company to around 30 specialist affiliates, including Fortuneo, Monext, Arkéa Banque Entreprises et Institutionnels and others; together, these affiliates cover every aspect of the financial services sector.

This new partnership will help the group improve its brand visibility - unlike its affiliate Fortuneo, which has established a solid brand image through its sponsorship exposure, Arkéa still needs to develop itself into a recognisable brand in the Brittany region.

Arkéa CEO Ronan Le Moal was enthusiastic in his announcement: "Arkéa is extremely proud to become a name sponsor of this wonderful team. Changing the name is like passing the baton. Our affiliate Fortuneo now has a solid identify here. The Arkéa group is experiencing major business growth, both in France and in Europe, and we wanted to support this growth through sponsorship and targeted communications initiatives. Changing the name to Arkéa-Samsic is a part of this strategy. We’ve built up very strong ties with Emmanuel Hubert’s team, and we share a number of common values: a strong attachment to our regional roots, an original and audacious profile, and unbridled determination to pursue growth while also remaining faithful to our values.”

Emmanuel Hubert, Manager of the cycling team, was also delighted with the announcement: “Personally I’m proud to see this development happen; it’s a testament to Arkéa’s loyalty and the interest our team is generating. Arkéa’s employees have shown their enthusiasm for cycling through various initiatives, such as the establishment of the Arkéa staff cycling team. We’re looking forward to developing new initiatives with them. I know that Arkéa is expecting a lot from this partnership; our riders are also aware of this, and are working hard on their performance levels. We have an ambitious plan - we want to be one of the world’s best teams, while also maintaining our human connection to our roots in Brittany and its cycling history. We want to grow and bring people together through the World Tour project. We will continue to help support young talent from Brittany through the Bretagne Cyclisme Formation (Brittany Cycling Training) project. The team is also undergoing structural changes - following the successful launch of the Keveler club, which already has a number of member companies, a supporters’ club will be founded in 2019. Two wonderful challenges lie ahead of Arkéa, Samsic and our team in 2019: we share the same desire to grow and develop, and the same desire to help Brittany shine on the world stage.”

Everyone at the Samsic Group is delighted to help support and renew this promising partnership, alongside a new operator in the region.
